Meghalaya: Garo Students Union burns Home Minister Amit Shah's effigy in Tura

The students and youth bodies in Meghalaya on Sunday staged protests against Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his silence on the implementation of the inner line permit (ILP) in the state.

Home minister Shah was in Meghalaya on a two-day visit.

The activists of the Garo Students Union (GSU) and Achik Youth Welfare Organization (AYWO) burnt the effigy of Shah in front of CM's office in the commissioner building in Tura.

Members of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) also took to the streets carrying placards at Sohra and in some areas of Shillong.

The Home Minister visited in the morning visited Sohra to attend an Assam Rifles' event.
